As part of the Accueil Vélo label, the L’Escale campsite is committed to offering cyclotourists a complete and adapted welcome. We promote bicycle tourism, in line with the values of soft mobility, discovery of the region and respect for the environment.
Why the Accueil Vélo label?
The Accueil Vélo label, promoted by France Vélo Tourisme, guarantees touring cyclists a high standard of welcome and service.
The scheme aims to identify accommodation, repair and rental facilities located within 5 km of a cycle route, offering useful services for cyclists. For travelers, this means easier identification thanks to the logo, adapted facilities (secure bike shelters, repair kit, practical advice, etc.), as well as reliable information on local routes and services.
Our cycling services at the campsite
We have set up a dedicated area for cyclists to make your stay comfortable and safe:
- Secure bike room, accessible 24 hours a day, to store your bikes in complete peace of mind.
- Electrical outlets for VAE battery recharging available on the premises or near suitable locations.
- On-site repair kit: sets of keys, lubricant, pump, puncture-proofing material, patches, etc.
- Bike cleaning station: a basin with hose and brush for rinsing your bike after rides.
- Luggage storage service: you can leave your luggage in storage if you’re roaming.
- Cycling information and advice: Haute-Savoie route map, GPS tracks, “Guide des Cyclistes” available in print or download.
We also provide personalized advice on routes, weather conditions and places of interest by bike.

Cycle routes to Col de la Colombière & Col des Aravis
From the campsite, you can reach the mythical Aravis passes via well-designed cycle routes. We can provide you with an interactive map or plan, as well as a description of the route.
For example, the “Col des Aravis + Col de la Colombière” route is around 97 km long and has a 1,974 m ascent, with an estimated time of 3 h 53. The Col de la Colombière ascent from Le Grand-Bornand is 11.7 km, 690 m ascent, with an average gradient of 5.9%. The route from Les Aravis to La Colombière can be considered as a loop, combining the two passes in a beautiful alpine traverse.
In addition to these longer versions, we also offer more accessible local routes, suitable for less experienced cyclists or mountain bikes, with moderate profiles and uphill markers (water points, refreshment points, rest areas).
